Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Calls its Pastoral Level Brothers to Service for its "Sunday of Hope Project"

"And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing." I Corinthians 13, Verse 3.

(Philadelphia, PA) November 20, 2007 - Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. announced today that it is seeking the enthusiastic support of its Pastoral Level Brothers in participation in its "Sunday of Hope Project" to benefit the initiatives of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Grand Polemarch Dwayne M. Murray announced the "Sunday of Hope Project" on August 30th. The project requests fraternity chapters throughout the country, along with local churches in their communities, to coordinate efforts to raise $500,000 for the dedicated and enormous good work of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and their work to eradicate cancer in children.

"It is our hope that those Brothers who have been called to the service of the God can use the teachings of charity as written by the Apostle Paul to assist in this important goal," Grand Polemarch Murray said. "This is a project, which I believe can serve to benefit thousands of ill children, and it is a project Kappa Alpha Psi and those members who serve as pastors in congregations across the country care deeply about," Murray emphasized during the announcement.

In order to ensure the success of this program, the fraternity is asking all Pastoral Level Brothers to contact Dr. William A. Adkins, Jr. who is the Chairman of this initiative via email at BAdkins892@aol.com or telephone: 901-679-6711, to gather more information about this project so that they can share this project with their congregations and be liaisons in this project.

The inaugural National Sunday of Hope program will take place on Sunday, January 6, 2008 in the Los Angeles Area and continue around the country throughout the month of January. Grand Polemarch Murray outlined the program stating, "the goal is for each chapter-church partnership to raise $1,000.00 toward this effort to honor and support St. Jude's young cancer patients and their families."

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has supported the efforts of St Jude for years and today's announcement confirms the commitment of the fraternity to encourage achievement in every field of human endeavor - including the achievement of the youngest of us to be cancer survivors. Grand Polemarch Murray emphasized the importance of gaining the support of Pastoral Level Brothers saying, "The Apostle Paul says of hope, faith and charity that charity is the greatest of the three and the level of charity we can provide in the support of St. Jude's is immeasurable."
