Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Announces National Financial Awareness Partnership

(Philadelphia, PA) October 8, 2007 - Dwayne M. Murray, Esquire, Grand Polemarch (CEO) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., announced a historic partnership as an enhancement of the dual-purpose program focusing on college students' financial literacy and consumer debt education, which the fraternity launched in early September. While making his announcement, Grand Polemarch Murray called the awareness of personal finance and control of credit debt, "One of the most pressing issues facing today's college students."

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will partner with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) to actively promote CARE (Credit Abuse Resistance Education) and create GLAD (Greeks Learning to Avoid Debt) to educate local communities and college campuses on the importance of maintaining a debt free life.

"With NFCC's extensive consumer credit network and counseling services on our side, Kappa Alpha Psi will be well positioned to reach out to thousands of college and high school students to inform them about the importance of responsible financial practices," Grand Polemarch Murray said. "Over the course of my administration, I will be committed to raising students' awareness on the importance of financial literacy and I applaud NFCC for their partnership with our national programs."

Under the leadership of Junior Grand Vice Polemarch Michael J.A. Davis, the fraternity's undergraduates will design and implement GLAD throughout a select group of one hundred campuses. While Alumni chapters, under the supervision of Grand Board member Anthony B. Hill, will promote CARE through the national mentoring structure of the Kappa Alpha Psi Guide Right/ Kappa League Programs, community service, and other related public initiatives.

Grand Polemarch Murray emphasized, "Both CARE and GLAD will become an immediate benefit to collegiate and high school students as they begin to better understand consumer education and the proper usage of credit cards."

CARE was founded in 2002 as an initiative of the bankruptcy counseling community and Kappa Alpha Psi sees its involvement as vital to getting the importance of financial planning to young college students.
