Southeastern Province Polemarch Solomon S. Bradley Encourages Chapters to Prepare for National Sunday of Hope Initiative

(Atlanta, GA) September 23, 2007 - Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.'s Southeastern Province Polemarch, Solomon S. Bradley, is encouraging all chapters of the Southeastern Province to begin preparation for its National Sunday of Hope Program.

The "Sunday of Hope" initiative calls for each chapter of the province, along with local churches in their respective communities, to develop partnerships in an effort to raise a minimum of $1000 to honor and support St. Jude's young cancer patients and their families. Fraternity members will give a presentation during the Sunday services at recruited churches to highlight the unique and important partnership between Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The inaugural National Sunday of Hope program will take place on Sunday, January 6, 2008 in Los Angeles, California. The program will continue around the country throughout the month of January. Now is the time for local chapters to begin coordinating dates for January 2008 with their selected church partners. Province Polemarch Bradley is seeking 100% participation from all alumni and undergraduate chapters in the Southeastern Province. It is imperative that each chapter submits the following information to Special Projects Assistant, Ed Swain, at edswain1911@aol.com no later than October 19, 2007.

The mission at St. Jude is to find cures and save children with catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. St. Jude is widely recognized as one of the first fully integrated hospitals in the South. It continues to stand by its original policy that all patients are treated regardless of race, creed, religion or the family's ability to pay. St. Jude has pioneered many medical breakthroughs over the years.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has supported the efforts of St. Jude for years. Because of the huge success last year, Kappa Alpha Psi has committed to raise $500,000 in five years. With this commitment, the lobby of the Transitional Trials Unit will bear the Kappa name. The Southeastern Province is more committed than ever to "Creating Inspiration: A Call To Service." The province goal is to raise $50,000 towards this very important and worthy cause this year. The participation of each chapter in the Southeastern Province is needed to contribute to this event to help children fighting cancer, HIV/AIDS, and Sickle Cell.
